Prayer is not the answer

Prayer is not the answer

Another day, another atrocity committed by Muslim terrorists. This time it was at Garissa University College in Kenya. Four al-Shabaab terrorists murdered 147 before they were themselves killed. Twitter is full of tweets urging us to pray for Kenya. Prayer isn’t the answer. A military campaign is the only thing that will stop such abominations.

This image was posted a lot on Twitter.

I responded and was told something I’ve never heard before.

Prayer

So now it’s wrong to fight terrorists.

This is not the world in which I grew up. Today President Obama announced a farce that he and everyone else knows will bring the Middle East closer to war.

Today, the United States, together with our allies and partners, has reached a historic understanding with Iran, which, if fully implemented, will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon…

This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran will face strict limitations on its program, and Iran has also agreed to the most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated for any nuclear program in history. So this deal is not based on trust. It’s based on unprecedented verification.

And on and on. The reality is that this is kabuki theater. The devil is in the details.

Omri Ceren, an analyst at The Israel Project, a strong critic of the agreement, said the lack of specificity on when the sanctions would be lifted already is creating conflicting statements between the White House and Iran on the timing.

Another problematic omission, [former director for non-proliferation in President Obama’s National Security Council Jofi] Joseph and others say, is how Iran will explain evidence uncovered by U.N. inspectors that it worked toward developing nuclear weapons in the past, something it has consistently denied.

The evidence was a key rationale for U.N. sanctions, but the framework agreement does not say whether the sanctions would be lifted before Iran addresses the issue. It’s also unclear how the IAEA inspectors will look for any remaining covert nuclear facilities without such an accounting, Joseph said.

Because the Americans and Europeans are giving away the store to the Iranians, Israel and the Sunni Arab Gulf states will have to take out the Iranian nuclear program by force. President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have all but guaranteed a regional war because they’re only paying lip service to their ideals.

This framework of a deal with Iran is like praying that al-Shabaab will stop murdering Kenyan Christians. Iran is the world’s greatest state sponsor of terrorism. Where’s the morality in pretending that we’re trying to stop the Iranians from developing nuclear weapons? Style over substance. Form over content. And yet real people will die.

On March 31, 2015, the Chinese evacuated some 571 of their citizens and foreign employees from Aden, Yemen. Reuters felt the need to lie about what actually happened.

Hours after the Houthis took over Aden’s central Crater neighborhood, including the presidential palace, unidentified armed men arrived by sea in an area of the port city which the Iran-allied Shi’ite fighters have yet to reach.

A Yemeni official denied that ground troops had landed in Aden and a port official said they were armed guards who had disembarked from a Chinese ship trying to bring aid or evacuate civilians.

There are photos of these Chinese “armed guards.”

That’s a sailor of the Peoples’ Liberation Army Navy, the PLA Navy or PLAN. You can see the PLA badge on the front of his helmet cover.

He’s wearing the 07 Oceanic Camouflage uniform issued to sailors and marines, and he’s armed with the Type 95B carbine.

Here’s the PLA Navy insignia that he has on his shoulder badge.

He’s not an armed guard; he belongs to a naval shore party, duty that requires an incredibly high level of skill. As part of their training, Chinese sailors and marines have participated in several exercises with US Navy special operators.

In Yemen nobody messed with that Chinese sailor or any of his comrades. Do you know why? Because the Chinese have no rules of engagement. The Houthi rebels know that. If anyone had tried to interfere with the Chinese evacuation, those sailors would’ve opened fire. They would’ve used the light cannons and heavy machine guns on the ship to rake the dock until everyone was dead.

And they would’ve been right to do so. Nobody would’ve forced the Houthis to try and harm the Chinese or their foreign workers. China is a brutal autocracy, but it saved the lives of non-Chinese.

Though the US is supposed to be a beacon of hope for the world, we’re doing our best to help the savage theocratic dictatorship of Iran get nuclear weapons. Iranian journalist Amir Hossein Motaghi—an aide to Iranian president Hassan Rouhani—defected to Switzerland while covering the negotiations. Here’s what he had to say about what was really going on.

The U.S. negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran’s behalf with other members of the 5+1 countries and convince them of a deal…

There are a number of people attending on the Iranian side at the negotiations who are said to be journalists reporting on the negotiations, but they are not journalists and their main job is to make sure that all the news fed back to Iran goes through their channels.

My conscience would not allow me to carry out my profession in this manner any more.

So the Red Chinese are rescuing people from terrorists while the US works to deliver nuclear weapons to terrorists.

I’m not going to pray for peace. Instead, I’ll rely on Israel and the Sunni Arab Gulf states to deal with the threat. Nobody’s informing Washington of their plans anymore, which is good. My guess is that Israel, the Saudis, the Emiratis, and the Jordanians have worked something out with China and India. The Indians have no rules of engagement either. They’re good people to have on your side in a fight.

A war is coming, thanks to President Obama, John Kerry, and the Europeans. The Chinese and Russians will sit it out, leaving Iran with only Syria as its ally. I thought Israel would be alone, but now I believe that she’ll have competent Arab allies protecting her flanks.

Don’t pray for peace; pray for victory.

Update

A religious Jew tells me that maybe the answer is a combination of prayer AND a military campaign.

He could be right.
